“The August Festival”

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of Das Awkscht Fescht.  This 3-day collector car event is one of the country’s largest classic and antique car shows.  Discover the legacy behind this successful community wide tradition, while enjoying stories and pictures.

Celebrate the volunteers who have supported this event for Macungie Memorial Park from its acquisition during the 1940’s through 2013.

Robert J. Hobaugh, Jr.  Collector, antique car enthusiast and member of the Ontelaunee Club, a regional organization related to the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), will present an exclusive continuous history of Das Awkscht Fescht.

This program will be held at The Macungie Institute – 510 East Main Street.

Come early to see the exciting displays housed within The Macungie Historical Society Museum. 

Their doors will graciously be opened at 6:00 PM.

Beyond Honey Bees

Every garden needs pollinators 

and bees are among the best.  Dr. Anita Collins, has been  researching honey bees for 40 some years and has branched out into the myriad of other species.

Dr. Collins is collaborating on a US Geologic Survey study of native bees east of the Mississippi. Lehigh Gap Nature Center is one of her study sights. The Junior Naturalists have been helping out and they have found some interesting species.  This presentation will focus on the 400 species of native bees in PA.Come learn what makes a bee.

Adventurous Dolls

Join us as Dollmaker and artisan,

Joan Strong, speaks about how dolls influence our lives and the world-at-large in unique ways that go beyond play.  Learn about fictional dolls who provide a unique perspective on history and the way people live, and real dolls who have traveled the world as ambassadors.

You may or may not be familiar with some of the dolls that Joan will talk about.

Be sure to bring your “favorite” doll to this presentation.

3 Day Fitness Camp

Ages 6-9 (9:00-11:30 AM)

Ages 10-15 (1:00-3:30 PM)

With a commitment to teaching excellence, Push The Rock has become a leader in sports instruction at all levels. With their outstanding coaching staff, children enjoy excellent athletic instruction in a fun, positive, encouraging and distinctly Christian environment.

Campers will learn what it means to compete with character and integrity in athletics as well as in life.  Coaches take seriously their responsibility as role models. They demonstrate a high level of skill and a heart for the campers they are teaching. Emphasis will be on sportsmanship and Christian character.  In fact… this is a Push the Rock trademark.

Two children limit per family/age group (Include the age of each child on registration) 

Kalmbach Memorial Park will pay each child’s fee however, each child MUST be able to attend all three days of camp.

If not, please be considerate enough to give-up your child’s spot for the next child on the waiting list.

Our Featured Basket Artisan Susan Dirsa – “Weave It To Me!”                  

will guide and instruct adultparticipants to weave a “Mending Basket,” perfect for small sewing projects and essential for any home.  This oval basket has a wood bottom with a folded rim.
